The consent to participation of Ukraine and Russia in Mukhtar Ablyazov’s trial
On Tuesday, 3 June, the Appellate Court in Lyon approved the participation of representatives of Ukraine and Russia in the extradition hearing of Kazakh dissident Mukhtar Ablyazov. At the same time, the court stressed that Ukraine and Russia do not become parties to the case and, therefore, they will not get access to the case file or the right to submit or add documents to the case file. The participation of Ukraine and Russia in the case should be limited to delivering speeches during the hearing. However, it hasn’t been specified whether representatives of the countries will be able to ask questions.
The next hearing will be held on the 25 of September in the Court of Appeal in Lyon.
