junAblyazov, whose extradition proceedings are taking place in France, is currently being held in custody in Corbas, an area not far from Lyon. The dissident openly states that he has been receiving indications that he might be killed in custody.

In December 2016 Mukhtar Ablyazov’s extradition was refused, he was released from prison and granted a political refugee status in September 2020. Earlier, a number of his relatives and associates had been given international protection in various European countries. Thus, continuing to campaign for human rights in Kazakhstan and the rights of political refugees amongst them, we consider our mission largely fulfilled.
