About website
The website mukhtarablyazov.org is a project launched by the Open Dialog Foundation, aimed at presenting the opposition politician and businessman from Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Ablyazov.
Ablyazov is one of the first serious political opponents of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, and thus, in Kazakhstan he has been labelled public enemy number one. The European Parliament and Amnesty International have recognised Ablyazov as a prisoner of conscience.
The website was created at the time when Mukhtar Ablyazov’s wife and 6-year-old daughter were kidnapped in Italy and transferred to Kazakhstan. Previously, the Open Dialog Foundation supported Kazakh oppositionists such as Kozlov, Atabayev and Vinyavskiy. However, with the unlawful deportation of Alma Shalabayeva, Ablyazov and his family have become yet further victims of persecution.
On mukhtarablyazov.org, you can find the politician’s resume, information pertaining to his political activity, supporting the opposition, and the oppression exerted on him by the Kazakh authorities. We also provide source materials: videos, photos, scans of documents and newspaper articles.
The previous project pertains to Vladimir Kozlov, convicted in October 2012 and now serving seven and a half years’ imprisonment due to his political activities.
