mayITAR-TASS agency reports that the court of appeal in Lyon confirmed that it would take a decision, on 3rd June 2014, on the right of representatives of the Russian Federation and Ukraine to attend and appear while the case of the Kazakh dissident Mukhtar Ablyazov is being heard.

In December 2016 Mukhtar Ablyazov’s extradition was refused, he was released from prison and granted a political refugee status in September 2020. Earlier, a number of his relatives and associates had been given international protection in various European countries. Thus, continuing to campaign for human rights in Kazakhstan and the rights of political refugees amongst them, we consider our mission largely fulfilled.
