In a letter to Viviane Reding, MEPs appeal not to render Pavlov
MEPs: Inaki Irazabalbeitia (Aralar) and Izaskun Bilbao (Basque Nationalist Party) sent a letter regarding Alexandr Pavlov to Viviane Reding, the Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship in the European Commission.
MEPs appeal to the Spanish Government in relation with the recent decision of the Supreme Court (Audiencia Nacional) to extradite Pavlov to Kazakhstan, where he would face torture. They have also drawn attention to the use of Interpol mechanisms by non-democratic states as a guarantee of arresting dissidents.
