Ablyazov: I did not steal but I was robbed – of the bank, my money and reputation
Mukhtar Ablyazov addressed, in an open letter, Sergei Duvanov, the Kazakh journalist and human rights activist. In his letter he discloses, amongst other things, details of the allegations made against him by Akorda and the reasons why he left the territory of the UK.
“I did not steal but I was robbed – of the bank, my money and reputation. I also want to explain why I left England and who and how my family and I were chased in the West,” Ablyazov wrote in his letter. At the same time, he thanked Duvanov for his support and assessment of the political activities of the former BTA Bank chair. Duvanov has already announced that he will analyse the letter and reply to it.
Duvanov was the editor of a bulletin on the observance of human rights in Kazakhstan, arrested many times and accused for his activities and for, inter alia, insulting the dignity of President Nazarbayev. It was he who disclosed the scandal labelled ‘Kazakhgate’, accusing prominent officials of taking bribes and depositing money in Swiss bank accounts.
