A message from Alma Shalabayeva, the wife of Mukhtar Ablyazov
Dear friends and supporters of Mukhtar,
Mukhtar is very greatful to all of you for your support and for all the kind words you have said. He receives your letters, and we inform him of your support. My husband’s aspiration to transform our country into a democratic, law-governed state by opposing Nazarbayev’s regime became an integral part of his life.
I, alone and on behalf of my whole family, would also like to thank all those who supported us when I and Alua were illegally taken to Kazakhstan and held as hostages. I understand that the Kazakh regime let us go only in exchange for my husband.
Now I am recovering from shock after the absurd judgements of the court. Yes, the French first-instance court placed trust in the worthless guarantees of murderous regimes; but this is not the end of the struggle! Now we are preparing documents for higher instances, including the court of cassation.
