La Provence: Ukraine lurks for the Kazakh oligarch
The request for the extradition of Mukhtar Ablyazov, a former Kazakh minister, filed in France by Ukraine will eventually be considered next Thursday. At the same meeting, the request filed by the Russian Federation will be considered. The one-week adjournment has been caused by the delayed delivery, through diplomatic channels, of a missing Ukrainian court document. During yesterday’s short meeting, the former Kazakh Minister of Energy (1998-1999) in the government of Nazarbayev, who in 2001 joined the opposition party ‘Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan’, stated that the Ukrainian and Russian request were filed on the initiative of Astana, which hasn’t signed an extradition agreement with France.
