ObserwatorKonstytucyjny.pl: How the dictator cracks down on the opposition using the EU member states
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan refused to review the conviction of the leader of the opposition party ‘Alga!’, Vladimir Kozlov. Kozlov was sentenced to seven and a half years' imprisonment for supporting the striking workers in Zhanaozen. He was accused of ‘inciting social discord’ and ‘attempts to overthrow the political system by force’. In the penal colony, where he is now located, Kozlov is being forced to work all-day long unpaid. He was refused an examination by a medical specialist, and only received only anaesthetic administered by injection. He is permitted to shower just once a week.
