Information about the kidnapping of Mukhtar Ablyazov’s wife and daughter, which he published on the social networking site, Facebook on 20 June, 2013:

"On Friday, 20 June, I received two messages related to the kidnapping of my wife and daughter.

First, the news came from Brussels. European politicians, including the Chairman of the Subcommittee for the Human Rights of the European Parliament, Vice-Chairman of the Delegation for Cooperation with the Countries of Central Asia, as well as special rapporteur for trade relations with the countries of Central Asia addressed a Parliamentary Question to the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, regarding the kidnapping of my wife and six-year-old daughter:

"Does the (European) Commission believe that the operation of the Italian secret services is consistent with international and European law, in particular, the Directive on the use of detention, the rights of persons who are subject to deportation, the rights of residents of the European Union, the rights of asylum seekers and refugees, the right to family life and the rights of the child? What steps does the Commission intend to take in relation to the Italian authorities."

It is interesting that members of the European Parliament did not hesitate to to explicitly and emphatically characterise contemporary Kazakhstan as a country "with extremely adverse conditions in the sphere of human rights”. They also pointed to the overt collusion between the Italian secret services and the authorities of Kazakhstan.
The aforementioned issues were raised by members of the European Parliament who deal with human rights, and are also responsible for cooperation and trade with the countries of Central Asia, namely: Nicole Kiil-Nielsen (France), Barbara Lochbihler (Germany), Franzisca Keller (Germany). I am very grateful to the people who raised the issue of unlawful deportation of my wife and daughter to Kazakhstan within the walls of the Parliament.

Secondly, I received a message from Astana. As I have already informed you, a decision was made to present charges against my wife. It happened on 7 June. It was ordered that the trial be carried out swiftly and that Alma be convicted. An order was issued for it be done as soon as possible, in late July/early August, when the European Parliament is in recess, so that everything would be done quietly.

They want to convict Alma and sentence her to imprisonment and they are intending to do so in accordance with a premeditated scheme, using legally valid judicial sentences. Specifically, the grounds for her conviction will be rulings passed in other cases concerning “the issuance of passports” to my family in Atyrau. Data from earlier lawsuits, which ended in convictions, will no longer be checked. The courts should take them for granted without taking into account the fact that Alma was not party to those proceedings, and there is no evidence of use or receipt of the passports - because there can’t be any.

Sentencing my wife is not enough for Nazarbayev. He has prepared a particularly dastardly plan for our little daughter Alua. After her mother is convicted, they want to take the child away from her grandparents and place her in an orphanage. The justification for the decision will be the impossibility of the grandparents taking care of Alua due to the advanced age of Alma’s mother and her father’s Alzheimer's disease of. For this reason, information was disseminated that Alma had returned to Almaty voluntarily in order to look after her old parents. That is why TV channels, controlled by Nazarbayev, showed pictures from a surveillance camera, provided by the secret services. In the pictures, Alma is helping her father to move around the house.
Today, in relation to my family, Nazarbayev’s regime uses methods that used to be practiced when Stalinist tyranny was flourishing. On the basis of a special decision of the Central Committee of the All-Russia Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of 5 June, 1937, all family members of people who were considered to be politically disloyal, were subject to arrest. Children of the “enemies of the people” under 15 years of age were sent to orphanages, where they were forced to repudiate their parents."
